Heating Element Failure

The heating element warms the water during the wash cycle and helps dry dishes at the end. Element failure is the most common cause of cold washing. Replacement cost: £80–£150.

Thermostat or NTC Sensor Fault

The temperature sensor tells the control board when the water has reached the correct temperature. A faulty sensor may prevent the element from activating. Replacement: £70–£130.

Control Board Fault

If the PCB is not sending power to the heating element, the water stays cold. Control board replacement: £130–£250.

Signs the Dishwasher Is Not Heating

  • Dishes still greasy after a full cycle
  • Water feels cold if you open the door mid-cycle (with care)
  • Dishwasher completes the cycle but dishes are still wet
  • Detergent tablet not fully dissolved
