Child Lock Activated
Many modern dishwashers have a child lock that disables the buttons. Check your manual — it is usually activated by holding a specific button for 3–5 seconds. Try deactivating before calling an engineer.
Power Reset
Switch the dishwasher off at the socket for 5 minutes, then back on. This resets the control board on many models and clears transient faults.
Control Board (PCB) Fault
If the panel lights up but buttons do not respond, or the display shows incorrect characters, the PCB may have failed. Replacement cost: £130–£260.
Water Damaged Electronics
