If water remains in the bottom of your dishwasher at the end of a cycle, it needs attention. The most common causes are easy to check yourself before calling an engineer.

Common Causes

Blocked Filter

The most common cause. Remove and clean the filter under the bottom basket — the owner manual shows how. Should be done monthly.

Kinked or Blocked Drain Hose

The drain hose can become kinked behind the machine or blocked with debris. Check it is clear and correctly routed.

Blocked Sink Drain

If the dishwasher drains into the sink waste pipe, a blocked sink can back up into the dishwasher. Clear the sink drain first.

Drain Pump Failure

The drain pump forces water out of the machine. A faulty drain pump will leave standing water regardless of blockages. Pump replacement costs £90–£150.
